Mayer Frank

Mayer Frank was born in Rousse in 1946. He graduated from the Music School and the National Music Academy in Sofia and a two-year master class in piano under Prof. Lili Atanasova and chamber music under Prof. Konstantin Kugiyski.

In 1964, for the first time in Bulgaria, Mayer Frank performed Goldberg Variations by J.S. Bach.

In 1970 he participated in an international seminar in the town of Weimar – Germany, with the Russian pedagogue Prof. Tatyana Nikolaeva. In 1972, the Italian pedagogue Prof. Vincenzo Vitali provides him with a scholarship for the international courses in Italian music in Rome and Venice.

Mayer Frank appeared on the stage as a soloist, in chamber ensembles and accompanist. He has performed concerts in Sofia and the country, in Russia, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Spain, France, Israel, Greece, Macedonia, Korea and others.

He has recordings of compact discs and vinyl, as well as recordings in the National Radio and National Television.

In 2000, Mayer Frank organized a piano trio called Kinor together with violinist Yosif Radionov and violoncellist Anatoly Krastev. The main creative task of the trio is to perform and popularize works of composers of Jewish origin. Trio Kinor has concert appearances, as well as recordings at the Bulgarian National Radio and the Bulgarian National Television.

Meyer Frank together with singer Ida Finzi for the first time in Bulgaria perform Sephardic songs in the arrangement of the French composer Alberto Hemsey. In their repertoire are also Sephardic songs in the arrangement of composer Jules Levy. They have performed concerts in Bulgaria, Israel and Germany. They also have recordings at the Bulgarian National Radio and the Bulgarian National Television.
Mayer Frank was a professor of chamber music at the National Academy of Music “Pancho Vladigerov”, Sofia until 2015 when he retired. Now he is mostly teaching private lessons online and offline.
